Students learn Olympic style Taekwondo, traditional martial arts customs and courtesies, age appropriate self-defense and much more. Students who would like to try competing will have the opportunity to do so, though it is not a requirement of the class. The Survis Tae Kwon Do Academy is a proud member of the World KidoKwan Federation. Because of this affiliation, students will have opportunities to train with some of the top Korean martial arts Instructors in the world today!
There are 10 levels and belts between white and black. It normally takes about three years to reach 1st Dan black belt. This is based on training regularly at least twice a week. Students will put on a demonstration for each belt level. Belt demonstrations will display what students have learned in front of parents, friends, and special guest Instructors. There is a belt promotion fee of $25 per belt.
Students are required to have a uniform for class. Uniforms with Survis TKD Academy patches are available from Master Survis for $30. Student notebooks will also be available soon. In addition to the uniform, students who decide stick with TKD training will want their own sparring gear, which is also available through Master Survis. Many other martial arts related items can be purchased through Master Survis from Century Martial Arts. Students (and parents) will get a 20% discount off the retail price by ordering through Master Survis.
